I'm amazed. It's been one and a half years since the release of CS3, you'd think they've had enough time to rename a couple of directories, right? Wrong. CS4 still won't install on case-sensitive file systems. Who in their right minds would willingly use a case-insensitive file system on UNIX? How hard is it to type AdobeJP2K.framework instead of adobejp2k.framework when setting the output directory? Either everyone at Adobe uses a broken keyboard with dysfunctional Shift keys, or everyone has a broken hand with dysfunctional pinkies.
Of course this can be worked around, but not without a substantial amount of tweaking. And I'm willing to bet that most people who use Photoshop for a living can't be bothered to figure out what to do. After all, I've seen quite a few threads complaining CS3 won't install on a case-sensitive file system. And getting it installed is the easy part...
