Site refresh is (finally) in progress!

The site is currently undergoing a major design overhaul and structural reorganization — the refresh that's long overdue. If you notice any broken links or malformed page display, please reply to this post with a comment, or send me an email.

After the refresh maybe I should beef up the actual content of the site… which I should've been doing all these years. Heh.

Thanks for your patience.

Happy new year!

Let's hope 2009 is better than 2008 :)

Shame on you, Adobe

I'm amazed. It's been one and a half years since the release of CS3, you'd think they've had enough time to rename a couple of directories, right? Wrong. CS4 still won't install on case-sensitive file systems. Who in their right minds would willingly use a case-insensitive file system on UNIX? How hard is it to type AdobeJP2K.framework instead of adobejp2k.framework when setting the output directory? Either everyone at Adobe uses a broken keyboard with dysfunctional Shift keys, or everyone has a broken hand with dysfunctional pinkies.

Of course this can be worked around, but not without a substantial amount of tweaking. And I'm willing to bet that most people who use Photoshop for a living can't be bothered to figure out what to do. After all, I've seen quite a few threads complaining CS3 won't install on a case-sensitive file system. And getting it installed is the easy part...

PwdHash × SuperGenPass

PwdHash generates theft-resistant passwords for a website based on a master password you specify and the website's URI. A Firefox extension is available to automate the process, but no similar solution for Safari or other browsers exist.

SuperGenPass is a bookmarklet that accomplishes the same task but with a different password generation algorithm. It has a simple and effective interface and is compatible with most browsers.

SuperPwdHash, as you might have already guessed, is a bookmarklet based on SuperGenPass but generates passwords using PwdHash's algorithm. Tested working on Firefox 3.0.1, Safari 3.1.2, and the iPhone. Simply bookmark the link below and use it when you need a good password.

The bookmarklet: SuperPwdHash (requires JavaScript)

IE6 users please bookmark this link instead: SuperPwdHash
